"I think real growth and healing is noticing how we’re feeling and responding differently to those feelings, rather than not having the feelings at all" << YES!
This is an encouraging message. You have basically summed up what I’ve been only recently learning for the past few years about how people with hurts, sometimes the same ones, heal differently and are all on different timelines of that healing journey.
This is so refreshing! I recently had someone end a friendship with me for this very thing! My healing didn't look like hers. While she indulged in toxic positivity, I unapologetically allow myself to acknowledge AND feel my frustrations, anger, sadness, etc. She said it was too much for her and that I should be more positive (not that I wasn't by any means)..just not positive enough for her I guess. My healing journey is my own and is unique to me. I give myself permission to be it without pressure of what other people's journeys look like.
I, too, found the Walking Dead really powerful and I can’t quite articulate why. Like most people I stopped watching after Glenn but would consider a rewatch. It’s less bleak than The Last of Us but still raises interesting questions.
To be honest, I’m having a hard time because there’s a lot of bleak death in dark circumstances that’s less campy than TWD so harder to watch. I’ve had to stop two episodes before the end bc I could see where they were heading and it brought up fresh grief. Not that it’s not worth it, but something to consider.
This is a deep Reflection! “Healing isn’t a brand, style or aesthetic stood out to me😅”! But, How True!!!! Growth and healing truly does look different for each and everyone of us.

An affirmation, ". I give myself permission to be it without pressure of what other people's journeys look like."
"But healing is not a brand, or a style, or an aesthetic."
Whew. This is a word.

Haven't stated Last of Us. I may wait until summer.

I absolutely loved this! I have always felt so limited by boxes and “looking” a certain way just because like certain things.
And I saw you mentioned the big leap, absolutely amazing book✨
Thank you Nedra, I’m thinking about your second journal prompt🤍
Nedra would you share your empowerment playlist? Thank you for your work!
Coming soon... It's in Tidal and ( I think) Spotify is the preferred app for sharing.
"I think real growth and healing is noticing how we’re feeling and responding differently to those feelings, rather than not having the feelings at all."
Growth is so many things and based on us, not ways others have grown.
Nedra. Will you be coming to Dallas Texas on your book tour?
Nothing planned for Dallas.:(
