Great reminder to switch from autopilot into conscious mode!
How can one re-discover the intimacy they once shared with a friend who has been deeply depressed for a few years? It feels very one-sided since there is no capacity for anyone else. How can this (once) intimate friendship be maintained?
So glad to hear about your downtime and restorative it was. Thank you Nedra for expanding the concept of intimacy via your observations. I was puzzled as the title was about “You Don’t Always Need To Be Right”. I thought the reflection/conversation would have been about compromise or tempering one’s tongue so as not to have to have the last word. Interesting reflections nonetheless. I am new to your newsletter and intend to remain a subscriber. Enjoy the harvest from your vegetable garden. Here’s a quick recipe for your cucumbers.
I really appreciate this article on intimacy. Recently I have been dealing with intimacy in my life, especially in dealing with new friends. I lost my closest friend and I have shyed away from having that again.
What a way to come back from a holiday Nedra:) This conversation is so welcomed and needed. "Studies have shown that they need that closeness. It is necessary for their development. Emotional intimacy is skin to skin contact for adults. We need it too". This is 100% truth! So many friendships and family relations falter because we just have regular contact but no deep intimate connection with the people we call family and friends. This really resonated with me, thank you for creating this conversation.

How I lot to read from you. Short and to the point. And the amazing suggestions at the end too. Thank you! 🌸

I noticed I copied the wrong title and later corrected it (human error). Thanks for the recipe.
