This Substack is so amazing, and I love the way you write. Honestly for me, the past creeps up on me and if I’m not careful it’s easy to fall into despair. I can honestly say though that past me is so proud of present me. I’m still working on it. Thank you so much Nedra!

I write a Substack about living positively in these tough times we’re in. I wondered if you would like to check it out and we could possibly promote each others’ work! I’d love to recommend you to my readers. Let me know what you think.

Giving yourself grace, letting the old you AND the new you to exist and have space at the same time, and the journal questions: beautiful🤍

I loved reading this!

Your writings are one of my favourites to read before going to sleep because it strengthens my soul by reminding me things that I may have forgotten throughout the day and after years of healing✨

This is a beautiful post, Nedra, and could be applied to so many old/new parts of us. I read it and thought about old Cait who drank and new Cait who is 10 years sober. Old Cait who didn’t know about C-PTSD and new Cait who is more aware of what’s underneath the surface. My old thoughts/feelings/triggered reactions still pop up all the time... and I choose new paths most of the time. It’s good enough. I’m doing good enough. (Practice a lot of mindful self-compassion!)

I loved how you referenced what old Cait didn't know that new Cait now knows. Mindful compassion is the way.

Self-grace is how we heal without the guilt.

💯 love this Nedra. I feel we never “arrive” , it’s a lifetime journey and we get better and better as we go. Always a work in progress and at the very moment we’re tempted to believe we’ve arrived the old us shows up.

Love this! I'm mostly my new me, but that oldster sometimes comes to visit. Thanks for permission to acknowledge her existence.

No shame in being more than one thing.

Amen to this! I recently confronted the old me and was temporarily discouraged but remembers that growth is a process!
