Notes and notebooks are fun to revisit and clear out. I also have a 5-year notebook that offers a snapshot of where I’ve been on the same day for 5 years. Sometimes a full daily journal entry is more than I can commit to but a quick paragraph in there is doable. I also use it for gratitudes.
Yes! Dr. Wayne Dyer was my first Guru with his first book, “Your Erroneous Zones”. I was about 23 at the time. I tried to get my then husband interested in it, but needless to say, he became my first ex. I went on to have quite a few more exes until I applied the work to myself at age 42 when I got sober. LOL! The other early morning I revisited an old journal from about 5 plus years ago and I have one of Waynes books on my bedside--Wishes Fulfilled which I will often grab and use as a sort of bibliomancy for what my day will bring. 🤗
I really liked this article, especially the things that caught your attention section, thank you for sharing those things. Thinking about what I should revisit now...
I reread Atomic Habits every January as a reminder, and Set Boundaries, Find Peace is on my TBR! I need to put The Four Agreements on there as well as I’ve heard good things about it.
I read an article about this a while back! It referenced a study that found that people who reflected on happy memories more frequently reported being happier than people who didn't reflect back on those memories. I put it to the test in 2023 - my new year's resolution was to record one second of every - whether it was big like a fun concert or small like a plant getting a new leaf - that made me feel alive. I reflected on my little videos at the end of each month and yesterday I watched the entire year in 362 seconds (I only missed 3 days). In a year that was hard in a lot of big ways (work stress, grief, family issues, and an ongoing car saga), the reflections on these happy, poignant, funny, or otherwise meaningful moments helped me to view the year with a softer lens. Definitely recommend!! Thanks for the prompt, Nedra. I hope you have a wonderful new year! <3
Hmm. Yesterday, I mentioned to my therapist that I have an old laptop that is no longer functioning but holds all the data that has been saved on it. Within that data are text messages and conversations from that time. I’m curious to circle back and connect with the version of myself who existed then and persisted through a really tough time.
Aside from that, I’m in the habit of saving old journals and calendars. There’s something about taking the past with me that gives me comfort, courage, connection, I guess.
OH! I’m also a serial phone note-taker. SO. MANY. PHONE. NOTES.
P.S. This reminded me to clear out my work email. To hit delete on the deleted items folder. To throw them into the fire and run away. I don’t need them, I deleted them for a reason. Nothing I do is life or death or really that important to be honest.
I love the four agreements! I’ve now got them on a post it on my fridge. I read the book end of November. Thanks for the list of resources super helpful 🙏 Happy New Year

I love the revisiting cycle. As we grow, we don’t see the same things in the same way. Thanks for the reminder.
"When you revisit a book, you revisit yourself the time you last read it...". Yes! 100%. So powerful.

I lost my original copy of Your Erroneous Zones and need to get a new one. The book's content is still relevant today.

Great reads!

I've kept all my notebooks since high school because I'm a sucker for nostalgia, too. Even the doodles are fun to look back at.

I really needed to read The 7 ways to bring a dead friendship back. Thanks!

One of my favourites. Still working on not taking things personally. The biggest takeaway was never to assume. A game changer for me 😉
