I am a freelancer and turned my Monday into admin day. I don’t do anything hectic on Mondays and it makes getting into the week so much easier.

What is a practice you can adopt that will make your Mondays easier?

I switched working Mondays for Saturdays. I miss a lot of the first day of the week chaos and my Friday is pretty quiet because most people don’t work that day in the State agency I work in. I use my Monday time for self care—taking the bus into downtown Santa Cruz and walking two blocks from the bus stop to my reformer pilates class. Sometimes I’ll treat myself to lunch or coffee and sit outside and people watch. When I’m ready to come home I walk the two blocks back to the bus stop and take the bus home. Mondays are the best day of the week for me now!

I always make sure I start the day with laughter. Then I enjoy my shower and I make sure I get my woekout/Stretch in by 9a.m. and I'd I have a lot to do I make sure to do the most tedious and important tasks done 1st so I'm not stressed about getting stuff done. And I make sure they're done in the morning like stressful phone calls etc. I keep stress relief lotion on my desk and look out the WI sow and breathe in fresh air so I have self care while I'm in the middle of problem solving. I also start my bedtime routine with a calming spray that I spray on my bed in the morning and make sure I get some natural light in midday and then move on with tasks then do self care items through out my day like listen to music, books, articles and then by the time the day is over I'm in a better resting mood looking forward to winding down with a book and tea or Turner classic movie and on. A bad day popcorn makes the world better!! Sundays I make a weekly to do list with 3 priorities 3 things I'd like to do and 3 things I'll eventually get to do

Love these tips—thank you. These really speak to me! I always make a French press and a delicious breakfast while listening to beautiful music on Monday morning, and sit and savor all three while consciously rejecting my reflex towards urgency. Easing into the day and the week is such a nourishing practice.

I feel Mondays (and Sunday eves !!) therefore this was right on point ! However I had the feeling this was written more towards freelance or executive… because the rest of us don’t get to decide our Monday work schedule/work load. Which is where I unfortunately stand. As for me, I plan ahead a nice breakfast, a tidy home, that I don’t have to go grocery shopping on Monday evening and can come straight home with an easy dinner and a laidback evening

Thank you for your newsletters, always !

When I was still in the workforce and raising school age children, I used to couldn’t wait for Mondays to come so I could go back to work and rest from my hectic and harried weekends with my children!

Now that I’m retired I get to nap whenever I want and do nothing after. 😉
